Graduation Day!

On Sunday, May 20th, I graduated with my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Doane College.  It took me a year and half to complete.  It is such a great feeling to be done!  I learned so much through the program that I currently use in my classroom.  I couldn't have done it without my amazing family, friends, kindergarten students, and colleagues!

Thank you to everyone who attended my party on Sunday and for all the wonderful gifts!  :)  I couldn't have had a better celebration..it was perfect!  Here's some pictures from the day:

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!

It coming to the end, only 7 more days left of school!  I always have this "bitter sweet" feeling this time of year!  We have been preparing gifts and saying "good-bye" to our wonderful helpers this year!  I can honestly say I'm not sure I would've made it through this year without these generous helpers!  These 26 kindergarten friends were a lot to have in the classroom at one time, and these great helpers, made it much easier!

Thank you to our gracious Doane helpers: Dani, Emily, Kara, and Cassandra!  Thank you for helping with small groups and constantly making/preparing new materials for us!!  We loved having all of you and hope you will return next year!! :)

Also, thank you to our parent volunteers, Mrs. Fye and Tracee!  Thanks for coming weekly to help with Math class.  You hear me say it over and over again, but small group instruction is so much better for this age!  Without you, we wouldn't have been able to have smaller groups.  Also, thank you for all your classroom donations for our projects!

As always, Mrs. Coffey, our language para is AWESOME!! I can't tell her enough how much I appreciate her!  She comes in, knows just what to do, does it, and is SO great with kids!  She always comes in a with a smile on her face, and is positive, positive, positive! :) :)

Thank you to everyone that has made this year, so successful!! :)

Green-Haired Creatures

8 More Days of School!!!  The weather is getting warm and both my students and I are ready for summer!  We have been very busy at school trying to fit in as much as possible in these last few weeks!  Parents, don't forget all the upcoming events.  Please read your newsletter from this week and the upcoming notes, so nothing gets missed.

Thank you to our amazing Doane student, Dani, we were able to plant these "green-haired creatures."  I debated whether to do the project with 26 students, but it was completely rewarding and worth the mess.  We planted them on April 24th and finally saw sprouts on April 30th.  They then started growing, growing, growing.  Students really enjoyed seeing their progress each day and watering them daily!

Everyone really wanted to use scissors and give them haircuts and mohawks, but I insisted that would be a better activity to do at home!  (Sorry parents!)  :)  Thank you so much to everyone who donated supplies!
