We have completed eight days of school already! We are getting great at following rules and knowing school routines. We need to continue to work on being a good friend and good listener! Our first few days have been filled with great stories, exciting activities, lots of "getting-to-know" you projects!
The Kissing Hand-We read the story The Kissing Hand and the two sequels. At the end of the story, Chester (the main character) left us a clue and told us he had run out of the book and was running around the school. We then used his clues to visit different areas of the school for a tour! We ended the tour back in our classroom, where Chester had left us a treat! It was a true highlight activity! Many students have asked if we can read it again and search for him again! After our school tour we made Chester (picture below) and also made a "keepsake" to take home to our families!
Cats Colors: We have spent a lot of time learning and knowing our colors in both English and Spanish. One of our favorite stories was Cats Colors. We made a class graph of our favorite color and then transferred our class findings onto an individual graph.
Chrysanthemum: This is one of my favorite Children's books. We made her (pictured below) and then a letter was sent home to parents asking them how their child got their name! We have received some great responses so far! It is so great to hang them in the hall and seeing everyone reading them! We then graphed how many letters are in our name, thankfully none of us have 13 like Chrysanthemum. We also watched the video from the story!
More activities will be listed in our class newsletter, as our week has been jam packed! Remember reading class started today, so please make sure everyone is getting plenty of rest!
