I hope everyone had a nice break. I know the kids had many things to share yesterday, when they returned to school. I love "share time" after we return from a break or the weekend. I find out so many great things about what families do on weekends.
For Easter/Spring we made bunnies-learning how to make a paper chain, sequences eggs with numbers 1-20, read the story of Peter Rabbit and made him, and dyed Easter Eggs. We ready many bunny, duck, chick, and Easter Books. Overall Peter Rabbit was our favorite. We sequenced the story and watched the movie. We also made "Bunny Baskets" to take our Easter Eggs home in!
Here are some before and after pictures!
Just a few reminders:
We are in need of Styrofoam bowls, old tub socks, and grass seed to make our Green Haired Creatures! We would love some donations! The Crete Elementary Carnival is Friday, April 12th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased next week after school!

Dental Health
I have been neglecting this blog lately, but I plan to keep everyone updated with the end of the year events. In February we learned about Dental Health and the importance of brushing our teeth twice a day. We had a local dentist come in and talk to us about proper teeth care.
We also learned about Nutrition and the new "Nutrition Plate" we sorted groups food into their food groups. We first sorted "real" foods and then sorted "paper" ones to take home!

Gingerbread
I tired to upload this post last night, but with the power flickering I wasn't very successful! Happy Snow Day!!!
In KE we spend a lot of time with Gingerbread. We read many different Gingerbread Stories and compare their story elements. We made Gingerbread Houses. Thank you to everyone who donated supplies and thank you to all the parent volunteers that helped us! Hopefully they all made it home in one piece today! Here are some pictures from our Gingerbead House making event!
In the story The Gingerbread Man, he runs away from many characters to avoid getting eaten! We made our very own Gingerbread Man and put him in the oven to bake. When we went back to get him out of the oven he had ESCAPED! He left us clues around the school, and we searched for him. He ended up in our classroom and we got to enjoy a cookie treat! :) We were just amazed that he could really run around the school and leave clues for us!

I don't have any pictures of our finished product, but boy he was Yummy!! I hope everyone is enjoying the Snow Day and hopefully we will have school tomorrow! Stay safe and warm!

Families!
One of my most favorite units to teach in Kindergarten is Families. We learn how all families are different, but all families have LOVE! We graph the number of people in our family, learn family words, draw our family, paint our family picture, and learn what makes our family unique. I wish I would have taken more pictures from our unit because we did some really neat things. Here are some pictures of us painting our family pictures. Hopefully all parents enjoyed their pictures and attached poem! We all LOVE to paint in Kindergarten!!
The students loved sharing about their family. What they like to eat, what they enjoy doing, what they celebrate, etc. Thank you to everyone who helped fill out their sheet and sent a picture! Enjoy your family time this Holiday Season!

Thank you to all of you who decorated turkeys! They were absolutely wonderful! All staff and students really enjoyed looking at them daily in the hallway! |
During Math Class, we used a Scarecrow Glyph to make these scarecrows. We have to follow specific directions and use our number skills to put the correct number of pieces on our scarecrows. |

We read the book, The Old Lady Who Wasn't Afraid of Anything and then we created this scarecrow. Once we were finished making and coloring them, we wrote about them! |
The Wednesday before Thanksgiving we used this "recipe" to create this Turkey Cookie! What a great celebration! |
