Fall/Thanksgiving!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Thanksgiving Break!  We had a great last few days before break in KE!  We have been very busy learning about fall, leaves, turkeys, and Thanksgiving!  Here are some things we did:

In Math class we created a Raccoon Puppet with Corn.  The corn had numbers 0-10 on them.  We then played a game and made our raccoon "eat" different numbers.  We practiced the skills of number identification and number order!  The kids loved this interactive activity!

On a brisk cold morning, we went on a "leaf hunt" as a class.  We first read the story, Going on a Leaf Hunt.  We then took out paper bags to collect different leaves.  We looked for different sizes, colors, and shapes!  When we returned to school, we did leaf rubbings with the leaves we collected!

Thank you to all of you who decorated turkeys!  They were absolutely wonderful!  All staff and students really enjoyed looking at them daily in the hallway!

During Math Class, we used a Scarecrow Glyph to make these scarecrows.  We have to follow specific directions and use our number skills to put the correct number of pieces on our scarecrows.

We read the book, The Old Lady Who Wasn't Afraid of Anything and then we created this scarecrow.  Once we were finished making and coloring them, we wrote about them!

The Wednesday before Thanksgiving we used this "recipe" to create this Turkey Cookie!  What a great celebration!

In the days leading up to Thanksgiving we discussed what we are Thankful for.  Here are some of our responses:
I am thankful for...
*family
*mom and dad
*food
*spiderman
*power rangers
*toys
*school
*teachers
*life
*pets
*brothers and sisters
*a house

Happy Thanksgiving!
