Dr. Seuss Kick-Off!

Dr. Seuss' birthday is on March 3rd!  Since we were not in school that day, we celebrated his birthday this week!  We kicked-off our unit in "Specials" class where Mrs. Moore, our librarian, planned "Minute it, to Win it" Dr. Seuss games in the gym.  Teachers and students both competed in quick one-minute games using Dr. Suess' famous books.  Pictures and video will be on Cardinal Nest News (CNN) this week!

The Cat in the Hat

This is the rhyming Flip Book we made!  Students were given the page shown below with rhyming pictures.  They had to find three pictures that rhyme and then glue them on each page of their flip book!  We then read the flip book as a class to practice rhyming words!

Reading The Cat in the Hat would not be complete without making a Dr. Seuss hat!  I must say we looked very "Dr. Seuss-ish" in our class picture!! I sure wish I could show you! :)

We had a great time making this Cat in the Hat project!

Green Eggs and Ham

We made a Green Eggs and Ham snack while we watched the Dr. Seuss video!  Yum!!

We used stamps to find three pictures that rhyme to put on our paper.  The first picture on this photo is of a star (it's hard to see).  We then split the class into two groups, with the help of our Speech Pathologist, and each student took a turn reading their page, since everyone had different rhyming pictures.  Ask your child, to read you their paper at home!

Check back next week for more Dr. Seuss activities!
